Frequently asked questions.

  • Check out our BOOKING page. There you can browse each artist’s portfolio and choose whose work speaks to you. If their books are open, click the button to fill out a form and submit a request.

If it says “How to book” that means their books are currently closed - but you’ll find info there on how to book with them when they reopen.

  • Books closed means that the artist is not taking on new appointments and that they currently have a full schedule. Our artists like to book a couple of months at a time, so if you see books closed, keep an eye on their page and they should open back up again for new appointments soon.

  • Our artists charge 160/hourly + tax.

  • We unfortunately do not accept walk ins, we are an appointment only studio.

  • We are 18+ only. We do NOT accept parental consent.

  • Unfortunately our shop is located in a second floor unit and our bathroom is not wheelchair accessible.

If you have any accessibility needs, do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

  • We require you eat something (ideally a good meal) prior to your appointment.

Avoid drinking too much alcohol the night before your appointment. We do not tattoo anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Well moisturized skin is ideal to work on. Moisturizing the area you plan to tattoo a couple of days-weeks in advance is good way to prepare the area.

We cannot tattoo sunburnt skin, so make sure you are putting on SPF to protect your desired tattoo area prior to your appointment.

We will shave the tattoo area for you, please don’t do it yourself.

Feel free to bring water/drinks/snacks to your appointment (we kindly ask you eat/drink in the waiting area).

If you wish to bring a buddy to your appointment, please ask your tattoo artist beforehand. Our studio is small, so a limit of one person please.

  • We love being able to work with you on your first tattoo, and guide you through the experience. Please let us know if it is your first tattoo, so we can be extra informative about process and take our time getting through it. Tattoos are never as bad as we think they are going to be, but needless to say they aren’t painless. We value your comfortability; breaks, a drink, a support buddy, and questions are always welcome! We like to start with a quick short line so we can ease you into the experience before getting into the harder sections. Never hesitate to reach out to your artist with any questions or concerns. Always communicate your wants and needs with us as we are here to make your ideas come to life. Last thing to note, make sure you eat a large carb heavy meal prior to your appointment and stay hydrated, we look forward to hearing from you!

  • Yes, we do! Email: Blackeleventattoo@gmail.com with your portfolio, information, and preferred dates, and we’ll connect with you to discuss details.

  • Sorry, we do not offer piercings. But we do recommend our friends at Skin Decisions or Modify Body Arts.

  • You must be 18+ and will be required to have a piece of photo ID ready on the day of your appointment (parental signature is NOT accepted).

We cannot tattoo you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

We recommend no sun exposure or swimming for 2 weeks following your appointment.

  • Yes we tattoo on all skin tones. Feel free to ask your artist directly if you would like to see examples.

  • ‘flash’ tattoos refer to designs that the artist has already drawn up and are ready to be tattooed onto someone. Flash pieces are a unique way to get a tattoo as they are generally drawn up by the artist as something they really want to tattoo!

  • Every artist works a little differently. Some may send your design the night before, while others will show you the day of your appointment. Either way, you’ll always have time to look it over and ask for small changes before we get started.

  • We kindly ask you arrive to your appointment alone, or with a limit to 1 extra person. We kindly ask you to get permission from you artist if possible beforehand.

  • We ask you wait on physical activity for the first 48 hours. After that, light forms of physical activity are acceptable. We recommend one week before intense forms of physical activity. Swimming is not recommend for the first two weeks of healing.

  • You tattoo will only ever expand or reduce at the same rate as your skin. It will not distort its shape.
